Shrimp Salad

With the holidays quickly approaching, I thought it would be nice to share some of my families favorite holiday recipes. The first one I'd like to share is for something we always referred to as "shrimp salad". We had it every Thanksgiving and Easter growing up, and now I hope to continue the tradition with my own family.

Ingredients:
1 head of iceburg lettuce
2 cans of shrimp
lemon juice
1/2 cucumber
1 can of olives
3 scallions
salt and pepper to taste
1-2 cups miracle whip

Directions:
Chop the lettuce, dice the cucumber, slice the olives and slice the scallions. Drain the shrimp and sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Add miracle whip and combine until all ingredients are moist. Season with salt and pepper.

Product Review: Philadelphia Cooking Creme

I recently tried my very first tub of Philadelphia Cooking Creme. Just for the record, let me say that I'm a closet cream cheese addict and had very -- no extremely -- high hopes for this product.

The creme's flavor was savory garlic. I made a simple pasta dish with it, heating it up and using it as the sauce as the package recommended. It melted well, and was a thick, pretty looking sauce in no time. I didn't need the entire package, so I snapped the lid back on the tub and put the leftovers in the fridge. Being a cream cheese addict, I think it says something when I say that the tub hasn't moved since.

Everything about the product was wonderful, except for the taste. It was probably the worst cream cheese flavor I've ever had. Not only that, it was extremely overpowering. Everything in the dish disappeared except for the cream cheese flavor and thick texture. As soon as the food started cooling, the sauce thickened up even more, which added to the overall unpleasantness.

Eventually, I gave up and tried to feed it to the dog. She didn't want any part of it either.

Needless to say, I won't be buying this again!

Glorified Pork Chops

I realize it's been a while since I've shared a delicious mushroom recipe with everyone, and I intend to right that error immediately.

Today's recipe is for Glorified Pork Chops. It's so simple and so delicious.

Glorified Pork Chops
Ingredients:
Pork Chops
salt and pepper to taste
1 medium onion, sliced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can milk
egg noodles, cooked

Directions:
Season pork chops with salt and pepper. Brown seasoned pork chops in a large skillet. Turn heat down and add onions. Cook until translucent - about 5 minutes. Add cream of mushroom soup and can of milk, mix well. Heat until combined and pork chops are cooked through. Serve over egg noodles.

Yes folks, it really is THAT easy! Whip up your favorite vegetable or a nice salad and you've got a meal in less than half an hour!
